A green Christmas tree made of library books!

The Gleeson Library in San Francisco, California has come up with a very fitting way to bring some holiday cheer to the library with zero impact on the environment. Rather than chopping down a real evergreen tree or purchasing an artificial tree whose production and disposal produce harmful chemicals and generate a significant amount of carbon dioxide, the employees at Gleeson Library ingeniously used their own books to create a Christmas tree.
Incidentally the perfect shade of green, these volumes of the National Union Catalog stack to make a gorgeous tree that reflects its environment perfectly. Cleverly decorated with homemade origami ornaments and knick-knacks, this tree is every bit as festive as a traditional evergreen.
After the holidays are over, the books will be returned to their shelves, at least until the next holiday season!
