PaperLite, a biodegradable packaging alternative

by Brittan on Friday, 11th November 2011 in Materials

PaperLite, developed by the Swedish packaging company Flextrus provides a biodegradable, paper-based alternative to traditional plastic packaging. The paper is sourced from FSC-certified, sustainably-managed forests, contains neither iso-cynates nor solvents and is quite durable.

While it may also be used for industrial products, PaperLite is approved for food contact and provides excellent barrier protection. Easy opening and sealing options add to customer convenience.

The thermoformable paper material is based on Billerud FibreForm and adapts well to existing Form Fill & Seal machines with easy formability and cutting. It is also well-suited for printing and graphics. The packaging may be customized to meet individual needs.
